Duncan here wants to share a bit about what they’re up to over at Isle of Scilly Sailing. Based in Truro, they offer memorable sailing holidays in the stunning Isles of Scilly.
You'll hop aboard Baloo, a classic 42' yacht, which Duncan and Claire have kitted out for a comfy and enjoyable experience. They’re passionate about showcasing the beauty of the Scillies and promise to take you to some beautiful, secluded spots while treating you to some of the finest food from the South West.
Every trip is tailored to what you fancy. There are guided walking tours to explore the unique landscapes, and if wildlife and birdwatching are your things, you might spot whales, dolphins, and a variety of birds. For the adventurous, there's open water swimming, snorkelling, coasteering, and even scuba diving on wrecks. They’re also introducing free diving for those keen to give it a go.
Cycling fans can hit the trails on St Mary’s, the largest island, and if you’re into yoga, there’s no better place than the beach, hillside, or amongst the granite outcrops. There are also meditation and wellbeing workshops to help you unwind.
If learning to sail or brushing up on sailing skills is on your agenda, Duncan — a qualified Offshore Skipper and Cruising Instructor — runs lessons from the basics to Day Skipper level. It’s all about gaining confidence and knowledge out on the water.
Your time on the Scillies isn’t just about sailing. Duncan and Claire have thrown in beach BBQs and Champagne evenings for a bit of relaxed socialising in a beautiful setting.
Duncan’s a proper outdoor enthusiast with a background as a Countryside Ranger, and he loves sharing his passion for nature. Claire brings her warmth and fun nature to the table, drawing on her experience as a teacher and broadcaster.
Their trusty vessel, Baloo, was built in Plymouth back in 1985. It’s got all the comforts you need, including an ensuite Master Cabin, a spacious saloon, and other cosy sleeping quarters.
If you’re thinking of booking a holiday, you can start your journey from Falmouth or Newlyn. The school can also help arrange transportation to and from the Scillies. Just keep in mind the weather might mix things up a bit, so flexibility is key.
Duncan and Claire are excited about the chance to create unforgettable experiences in the Isles of Scilly. They reckon you'll go home with new skills, new friends, and plenty of great memories.
