Joanna Warren Yoga & Therapies, located in Stansted, is a holistic wellness centre offering a range of yoga classes, facial treatments, and massage therapies. The founder, Jo, is a highly experienced Vinyasa Flow and Yin yoga teacher, Aromatherapist, and Holistic Facialist with a passion for supporting individuals in their wellness journey.
With over sixteen years of experience in the spa and wellness industry, Jo originally trained in beauty therapy and sports massage in 2002, working with renowned spa brands such as Espa, Aromatherapy Associates, and Clarins. In 2006, she opened her own business, 'Bloom Health & Beauty Spa,' which she successfully ran for six years before relocating to Sydney.
It was during her time in Sydney that Jo's love for healing therapies, crystals, and visiting yoga studios grew. Upon returning to the UK, she embarked on a regular Ashtanga practise, which later expanded into Vinyasa Flow. For the past eight years, Jo has been dedicated to her Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga practise and recently had the opportunity to further her training as a Vinyasa Flow & Ashtanga Teacher with Sampoorna Yoga in India in Spring 2021. She also trained with Norman Blair as a Yin Yoga teacher.
Jo now combines her love for yoga and wellness treatments to create retreats and workshops in studios and picturesque rural locations. Her personalised yoga classes cater to individuals of all ages and abilities, whether they are looking to establish a regular practise, deepen their current practise, or simply enjoy a group class or day retreat.
In her Vinyasa Flow classes, Jo creates a fluid sequence of movements synchronised with breath, providing a grounding and energising experience. The classes focus on lengthening and strengthening asanas, balances, Pranayama (breathwork), and finish with a guided meditation during Savasana. For those seeking a slower practise, Jo offers Gentle Flow yoga, where postures are held for a longer duration to induce relaxation. Props such as bolsters, blocks, blankets, and eye pillows are often used to enhance the practise.
The one-to-one yoga classes are priced at 45 per 60-minute session, while couples can enjoy a class for 50. Group classes are also available, priced at 12 per person for a 60-minute session. Jo also offers Zoom one-to-one classes for 30 per 60 minutes. For beginners, a four-session beginner's course is available for 120.
Jo's yoga training includes a 200hr Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga Yoga certification from Sampoorna Yoga, accredited by the Yoga Alliance US. She also completed a Yin Yoga course titled “Minds, Meridians, Moments” with Norman Blair. Jo's favourite asanas include juicy hip openers like wide-legged child's pose and pigeon, as well as backbends. She continues to challenge herself with the pincher pose.
Jo proudly uses Neal's Yard Remedies in her holistic facials to ensure her clients' needs and desires are met. In her blog, she shares her insights and knowledge on topics such as new beginnings and the benefits of using natural and organic skincare products.
