About

Located in Mount Pleasant, John XXIII College Rowing Club is a prestigious rowing club that competes in a variety of regattas across PSA, IGSSA, and Rowing WA All Schools competitions. With a rich history that dates back to 1992, this club has played a significant role in developing students into strong-minded, resilient, and committed individuals, with many going on to compete in State, National, and even International competitions.

The club prides itself on its inclusive philosophy, catering to rowers of all levels. Qualified coaches provide comprehensive training and instruction, ensuring that each rower receives personalised attention and guidance. Through rowing at John XXIII College, students have the opportunity to develop essential life skills such as teamwork, commitment, dedication, resilience, fitness, and strength. The sense of accomplishment that comes from participating in rowing is invaluable and helps shape students into well-rounded individuals.

The rowing journey at John XXIII College begins in Year 7, where all students have an opportunity to experience rowing in their Physical Education classes. This six-week programme allows students to develop their understanding of rowing, water safety, and the physical attributes required for the sport. Year 8 students can further their skills and knowledge by enrolling in a Term 3 programme, where they have the chance to row as a crew and participate in a House Regatta.

For students in Years 9-12, official training for both girls and boys recommences in Term 4, providing rowers with ample preparation for the upcoming season. Parents are also encouraged to get involved with the club's activities and become an integral part of their child's rowing journey. By joining the John XXIII Rowing Club, parents have the opportunity to witness their child grow into a strong, fit, and confident individual, while also becoming part of a supportive community of like-minded parents.

Membership of the John XXIII Rowing Club includes rowers and their families. The club is run by a dedicated Rowing Coordinator/Teacher employed by the College. The Committee, consisting of approximately 8 parent members, oversees the club's activities and is elected by club members at the Annual General Meeting. The Committee meets regularly to review policies, activities, and the performance of office bearers.

Parents are welcome to inquire about the club's operations and are encouraged to become involved.
