KDS (Karate-do Shotokai) is a non-competitive martial art that can be practiced by people of almost all ages and abilities, focusing on classical self-defense rather than sport karate or fighting. Our classes emphasize pre-arranged types of partner practices, using relaxed power and smooth, fluid movements.
Instead of doing a lot of free-sparring, we tend to favour pre-arranged types of partner practices so you can learn how to handle strong, determined attacks effectively. We also keep the class goals centered on improving the skills of ourselves and others.
