Come check out the Kelowna Kendo Club, right in the heart of Kelowna! This club brings you the incredible art of Kendo, a Japanese sword fighting sport that sharpens both body and mind. Led by Victor Nishi and sempai Greg Reschke, they’re all about balancing martial arts tradition with the excitement of sport.
Whether you're a beginner or looking to level up, they've got you covered. You'll learn the two sets of kata with wooden swords and master the basics of attacking and counter-attacking. The club's grading system goes from 1-dan to 10-dan, and students are assessed through practical and, at higher levels, written tests. Victor and Greg are dedicated to helping everyone improve and reach higher dan grades with solid guidance and practice.
Join their regular practice sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Curious about Kendo? Drop by and watch a session, ask questions, and get a feel for this fascinating sport. The Kelowna Kendo Club is connected to national and international organizations, so members have access to great resources and the chance to compete in events.
If you want to know more, reach out to Victor or Greg for details on practice times, equipment, or any other questions. They’re passionate about bringing Kendo to Kelowna and helping students grow in this traditional martial art. Don’t miss out!
