About

Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club, nestled lakeside in picturesque City Park in downtown Kelowna, British Columbia, is a serene and stunning location for those looking to partake in the sport of lawn bowling. Established in 1909, the KLBC is one of Kelowna's longest-standing recreation organizations, providing a space for members to enjoy the game of lawn bowling while also promoting the sport to the wider community in the Central Okanagan and beyond. The club offers greens and clubhouse rentals for charitable or corporate groups, in addition to facilitating play for its members.

Lawn bowling, a game that involves rolling biased balls called “bowls” at a smaller target ball known as a “jack,” is played on a purpose-built, flat surface called a “green. “ Each green is divided into multiple “rinks,” allowing for several games to be played concurrently. The game, played between two competitors or teams, consists of multiple “ends,” with players taking turns to roll their bowls towards the jack. Points are awarded based on the proximity of bowls to the jack, with the game concluding when a predetermined number of ends have been completed or a maximum score has been reached.

The history of the Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club spans over 110 years, with the club being situated in City Park for approximately 80 years. The club expresses gratitude to the Province of British Columbia and other sponsors for their support. The KLBC also participates in various competitions, with champions and winners recognized within the club and the wider community.

Community involvement is a core aspect of the Kelowna Lawn Bowling Club, with members engaging in activities such as donating to local food banks and organizing events like the Fall Country Windup, where participants dress in Western attire and enjoy music in a festive atmosphere. The club's dedication to giving back to the community reflects its ethos of fostering camaraderie and support amongst its members and beyond.
