About
Kevin at the Kerikeri Judo Club knows how to get you hooked on judo. Following the official syllabus from the NZJF, the club's got training sessions for everyone—beginners, juniors, and seniors.
For the little ones aged 5 to 10, head to the beginners' class on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Juniors aged 11 to 14 can join in on Mondays and Wednesdays, same timing. If you're 15 or older, senior classes are where it's at—Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:00 pm, plus a Saturday session at 1:00 pm.
You'll need a judogi to train; it's a must for the older kids and adults, and a good idea for everyone starting out. Grab one from Auckland Martial Arts Supplies for $60. And don’t forget, signing up with Judo NZ is mandatory—it’s $87 a year, but this lets you compete and get graded.
Kerikeri Judo Club isn’t just any club—it’s affiliated with the NZJF and the Auckland Judo Association. This means access to recognised gradings, training camps, coaching seminars, and competitions. Training goes down at the BaySport Complex on Harmony Lane, Waipapa. Join in on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 1:00 pm.
