Keynsham Archers

Keynsham Archers is a friendly and inclusive target archery club located in Keynsham, between Bristol and Bath. The club meets regularly to shoot outdoors at their range within the grounds of Keynsham Rugby Club. Previously known as Bristol Bowmen and Golden Phoenix Archers, the club changed its name to Keynsham Archers in 2018 to reflect its long-standing presence in the Keynsham community since the 1980s.

For those interested in learning archery, Keynsham Archers offers Beginners' Courses and Taster Sessions. Beginners can join the club by signing up for a Beginners' Course, which provides comprehensive instruction and guidance. If you are already an archer or have prior experience in archery, you are also welcome to join Keynsham Archers. The club organises Taster Sessions occasionally for individuals to evaluate if archery is the right fit for them. Upon completion, a brief range safety assessment session will be scheduled, and proof of Archery GB membership will be required for existing members.

Rusty archers who haven't shot regularly can also benefit from a welcome back refresher session with the club's coaches.

Archery at Keynsham Archers is suitable for individuals of all ages and abilities. Children aged 10 and above can participate, but children aged 10 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian, and juniors (aged 16 to 17) require an adult to be present. The club encourages families to try archery together and offers Taster Sessions for those interested in giving the sport a go. Archery is known for its inclusivity, making it an ideal sport for disabled individuals.

The club provides bows, arrows, and all necessary equipment during the beginners' courses and for the first few months of shooting. The club advises new members to gain experience and strength before investing in their own equipment. Local archery stores and club members can provide helpful advice and even allow members to try out different bows before making a decision.

Membership to Keynsham Archers includes membership of Archery GB (the National Governing Body) and the Grand Western Archery Society (Regional Organisation). The membership fees for non-disabled archers range from 65 for under 18s to 140 for seniors (25+). Disabled archers have discounted membership fees, ranging from 55 for under 18s to 80 for seniors (25+).
