Killyleagh Yacht Club

Jamie Woodward here. Just wanted to share a bit of what’s happening at Killyleagh Yacht Club in Downpatrick. Jamie’s proud to see the club thriving with about 400 members, making it one of the busiest sailing spots on Strangford Lough. There's always something on, whether it's racing, training, or a laid-back sail.

Killyleagh Yacht Club is all about getting more folks into sailing, from seasoned sailors to total beginners. And being tied in with the Royal Yachting Association means members get top-notch training and we're always up to speed with best practices.

Community spirit is strong here. The club’s calendar is packed with events, from the annual Christmas Tree Festival to the ever-popular Annual Dinner Dance. Jamie reckons there's something for everyone. Getting involved couldn’t be easier, with volunteering and racing events happening regularly.

A quick shout-out to our junior programme, which Jamie believes is one of the finest in Northern Ireland. It's for young ones aged 8-18 and packed with fun, whether it’s Monday night sailing sessions or the RYA Summer Sailing Courses. It's a great way for the kids to learn and love sailing.

Hosting events is another thing we do well at Killyleagh Yacht Club. Jamie and the event team make sure everything runs smoothly, be it regional races or something a bit more corporate. It's a stunning place for any event.
