One of the notable instructors at the club is Dominic Weech (3rd Dan). Sensei Dominic's karate journey began in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) in 1974 under the tutelage of Shihan Des Botes (5th Dan). He achieved his black belt (Shodan) in 1977 and even represented his country in Johannesburg competitions in Kumite (free style fighting). After immigrating to the UK in 1978, Sensei Dominic resumed his training in Shukokai Karate in 2000 under Robin Horsefield (5th Dan) in the Putney Dojo.
He has also trained in judo and Jujitsu (Yoshin Ryu) under the British Martial Arts Federation. Sensei Dominic's extensive experience and knowledge make him an invaluable asset to the club and its members.
Kimura Shukokai Karate Surrey is affiliated with the Shukokai Karate Federation (SKF), which was established in 1980 by Chief Instructor Shihan Eddie Daniels (9th Dan). Shihan Daniels, who belonged to the pioneer generation of karate in the UK, prioritised maintaining the fundamental principles and values of martial arts.
