Kingswells Karate is a martial arts club located in Kingswells, Aberdeen. It is part of the Aberdeen Seishi-Kai Karate group, which consists of three clubs in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. They offer classes for all levels, from beginners to experienced karate practitioners.
The club operates from the Kingswells Community Centre on Wednesdays and Sundays. On Wednesdays, they have classes for children in P1-7 from 4 pm to 5:55 pm, and an adults and teenagers class from 6 pm to 7 pm. On Sundays, they have a class for children in P2-7 from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, and an adults and teenagers class from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
The instructors at Kingswells Karate are highly skilled and have years of experience in practising karate. Simon Heys, a 3rd Dan instructor, joined the club in 1992 and has trained under the guidance of Duncan McPherson and Danny McLernon. He has competed in various competitions in Scotland and England, representing Scotland in the WKC 2011 World Karate Championships. He has also attended training camps with Doug James of Chojinkai Karate and trains with the Zen Do Karate group in Hungary.
The club emphasises the benefits of karate, including self-defence skills, improved confidence, fitness, flexibility, strength, discipline, and the opportunity to make new friends. They welcome anyone interested in trying out a class or getting in touch with one of the instructors.
Kingswells Karate is part of the Aberdeen Seishi-Kai Karate group, which also includes Alford Karate and Blackburn Karate Club. Alford Karate holds classes at Leanne McVeigh's dance studio in Alford, Aberdeenshire, on Fridays. They have classes for children in P1-3 from 6 pm to 6:55 pm, and a teenagers class from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. Blackburn Karate Club holds classes at Kinnelar Community Centre in Blackburn, Aberdeenshire, on Mondays.
They have kids classes from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and an adults and teenagers class from 6:30 pm to 8 pm.
