Welcome to The Kintbury School of Ballet, located in the beautiful town of Kintbury. With a warm and friendly atmosphere, we offer ballet classes for children and adults of all ages and abilities. Whether you're a total novice or dream of dancing professionally, our exceptional training will help you achieve your goals.
The school's founder, Miss Alex Foley, has over 20 years of experience teaching ballet, including five years at The Royal Ballet School, White Lodge. She has also danced professionally with major ballet companies such as The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, and The National Ballet of Canada. With a passion for teaching ballet, Miss Alex brings her expertise and passion to every class.
Children's ballet classes are held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday during school term times, while adult ballet classes take place on Friday mornings. All classes can lead to Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examinations, if desired. Miss Alex's extensive experience and connexion to the ballet world ensure that students receive top-notch training.
In addition to regular classes, The Kintbury School of Ballet also provides exciting opportunities for students. For example, Miss Alex's former pupils from her days teaching at The Royal Ballet School, Matthew Ball, Anna-Rose O'Sullivan, and William Bracewell, have performed at our annual charity events at Athelhampton House. This year, we are honoured to have Dame Darcey Bussell presenting an award at the event in aid of displaced Ukrainian dancers.
The Kintbury Ballet School opened its doors in January 2011 at The Coronation Hall, conveniently located between Hungerford and Newbury. With spacious and well-equipped studios, our school provides a comfortable and conducive environment for learning.
For those interested in our schedule, we offer classes for various levels throughout the week. On Mondays, there are Intermediate classes. Tuesdays feature a new Grade 2 class as well as a new Grade 3 class. Wednesdays offer classes for Pre-Primary, New Primary, and Grade 1.
Fridays are dedicated to Adult Ballet classes for ages 18-99.
To participate in classes, students are required to wear the Royal Academy of Dance Regulation Uniform. For girls in the Pre-Primary and Primary levels, this includes a 'Freed Chloe' pink leotard, a 'Freed Georgette' pink wrapover skirt, pink satin or leather ballet shoes, short pink socks, and an optional pink crossover. Boys are required to wear regulation ballet tights, ballet shoes, a white short-sleeved leotard, and a black or white ballet belt.
At The Kintbury School of Ballet, we strive to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment for all students. We believe that ballet is not only a beautiful art form but also a discipline that promotes self-expression, physical fitness, and confidence. Join us on this exquisite journey as we dance our way to excellence.
