Alan Slater welcomes you to Knowle TAGB, a Martial Arts school nestled in Solihull. Since opening its doors in 2003, Knowle TAGB has been teaching Tae Kwon Do, a martial art that the whole family can enjoy.

Alan's passion for Tae Kwon Do stems from its rich history. The art, which means “hand, foot, and way of art,” was founded by General Choi in 1955 in Korea. Its basic and scientific techniques have made it the fastest-growing martial art in the world.

As part of the TAGB association, recognised by the British Tae Kwon Do Council, Knowle TAGB ensures that all instructors are fully qualified, insured, and have passed CRB/DBS checks. The safety and well-being of students are a top priority here.

Alan, the Chief Instructor and a 7th Dan Black Belt, has been training since 1989 and became a qualified instructor in 1997. He’s won numerous national titles and has all the necessary certifications, including Police & DBS checks, First Aid Certification, and Child Protection Training. Plus, he’s got full indemnity insurance in place.

At Knowle TAGB, the benefits of learning Tae Kwon Do go beyond martial arts skills. Alan believes in its power to foster camaraderie, self-defence, stress relief, discipline, health, fitness, and confidence. It’s a holistic approach that makes a difference in everyday life.

For women, the increasing need for self-defence is clear. Tae Kwon Do equips women with the skills and confidence to protect themselves.
