Jon Hegan, organiser and head instructor at the Jon Hegan Academy, wants to extend a warm invitation to the sports community. With the academy based in Upminster, Essex, it has been a cornerstone for martial arts enthusiasts since its establishment in October 1997. As the longest-standing International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) School in the UK, Jon wants everyone to know this isn't just a place to train—it's a place to excel.

Jon Hegan's expertise in Krav Maga, coupled with his broad martial arts qualifications, ensures students get the best instruction in reality-based combat. It's not just about learning techniques; it’s about understanding self-defence in real-world situations. This has earned the academy respect from police and military combat instructors and martial arts experts globally.

The academy also offers classes in Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, participants can train in this distinguished grappling art directly with Jon, who proudly holds a 1st degree black belt awarded by UFC legend Royce Gracie himself. Jon's journey to black belt, completed in 2013, marks him as the first person from the UK to earn this recognition following the rigorous Valente Brothers test.

Whether you're interested in self-defence or need these skills for work, Jon Hegan's Academy welcomes everyone. Jon has trained a variety of military and law enforcement personnel, including members of the SAS, SBS, FBI's HRT, and SWAT teams. The academy, located at The Coopers Company & Coburn School Gym on St Marys Lane, provides a dedicated space for training, suitable for all levels—beginners to seasoned practitioners.
