World conditions to his students, Troy decided to break away from the International Krav Maga Federation and create a system that is more applicable to the Australian context.
Krav Maga Alliance of Australia (KMAA) is a gym located in Pialba that offers comprehensive self-defence classes for both adults and children. Established in 2017 by Troy Matthews, an experienced martial arts instructor with over 37 years of experience in the field, KMAA provides a unique and practical approach to self-defence.
Unlike traditional martial arts classes that may seem outdated and impractical, KMAA focuses on teaching students the skills and tactics necessary to survive real-world violent encounters and attacks. Classes at KMAA are designed to address all areas of self-defence, including strength, fitness, confidence, awareness, assertiveness, vigilance, de-escalation, and controlling aggression.
The gym offers a variety of classes that incorporate elements from various fitness activities, such as crossfit, boxing, gym workouts, bootcamp, kickboxing, combat aerobics, and cardio workouts. Additionally, specialised games, obstacle course challenges, scenario drills, and defensive tactics are integrated into the classes to enhance reaction time, raise awareness, build confidence, and improve overall fitness levels.
KMAA caters to individuals of all ages and fitness levels. Their personal development and anti-bullying classes are specifically designed for children aged 10 to 14, while adult self-defence fitness classes are available for individuals aged 15 and over. The gym believes that self-defence fitness classes should be fun, encouraging, and supportive, suitable for everyone regardless of their shape, size, or fitness level.
Troy's extensive experience in the martial arts, self-defence, and security industry has allowed him to develop an effective self-defence system that is specific to the Australian context. With a strong background in traditional martial arts, including karate, kung fu, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Troy's passion for Krav Maga was ignited in 2002 when he attended his first seminar on the subject. Since then, he has dedicated his life and work to refining and evolving Krav Maga to meet the needs of Australians and provide realistic training for self-defence.
At Krav Maga Alliance of Australia, students can expect a supportive and inclusive training environment, where they can learn essential skills to protect themselves and others in real-life situations. With Troy's expertise and guidance, students will acquire the necessary tools, techniques, and mindset to effectively handle violent encounters and confrontations.
Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced martial artist, Krav Maga Alliance of Australia offers a safe and challenging space for individuals to improve their self-defence skills, build confidence, and enhance their overall fitness levels.
