Joseph Pilates, the founder of the Pilates method, created the method after experiencing numerous ailments himself. Inspired by his parents' backgrounds in gymnastics and naturopathy, he embarked on a journey of self-education, studying anatomy, body-building, yoga, gymnastics, wrestling, and martial arts to overcome his health issues. His method, initially called Contrology, aimed to develop coordination, balance, muscle development, posture, and flexibility, as well as improve breathing capacity.
Pilates is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Working with equipment ranging from small apparatus to larger fixed apparatus, Pilates encourages the body to prioritise and recalibrate its movements into the most efficient sequencing. By focusing on muscle sequencing and breath, Pilates enables the body to move freely and functionally, aiding in rehabilitation and injury prevention.
At Krpermotus, the emphasis is on moving mindfully with control, establishing and strengthening the mind-body connexion through repetition. By working from the inside out, individuals can discover more about their bodies and achieve their personal fitness goals.
