Lapworth Cricket Club, established in 1908, is a cricket club located in the picturesque village of Lapworth in Warwickshire. The club is situated at the Melson Memorial Park, which was generously given to the village by Mr. Melson, a local businessman, for the purpose of playing sports. Originally shared with a hockey club, the ground has been solely dedicated to cricket since the early nineties, with Lapworth Cricket Club responsible for its maintenance.
Lapworth Cricket Club has a rich history in the cricketing community. They were founding members of the Tapster League in 1973 and later joined the Warwickshire Cricket League in 1999. In 2012, the club moved to the Cotswold Hills League, where they currently compete.
The club offers a range of teams and matches to suit players of all ages and capabilities. They have three Saturday league teams, participate in weekly Sunday friendly matches, and also play 20/20 midweek league games. Lapworth Cricket Club welcomes new players from any background and with any level of experience. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, the club encourages you to reach out for more information and to join the team.
As an active and vibrant club, Lapworth Cricket Club provides training and net sessions to its members. During the summer, net sessions are held every Tuesday evening from April onwards. Winter nets are also available, with details to be confirmed. New and existing players are welcome to attend these sessions, and for further information, they can contact Sean Cross, whose contact details are provided on the website.
Lapworth Cricket Club takes pride in their club kit and has partnered with the specialist cricket brand, 'HAWK CRICKET'. They offer a wide range of playing and training gear, with the option to personalise items, and all can be purchased in the club shop.
The club's teams compete in different divisions within the Cotswold Hills League. The 1st XI plays in the premier Division, while the 2nd XI competes in Division 4 and the 3rd XI in Division 7. There is also a Mid-Week XI, aimed at promoting youth cricketers in the area, and a Friendly XI, which plays 40 over matches exclusively on Sundays.
