Lewisham YBC

Lewisham YBC is a thriving youth bowling club located in the heart of London. Every Saturday morning, between 10am and 1pm, the club gathers at Lewisham Lanes to provide a social, fun, and competitive coaching environment for youths aged 5 to 22 years old. The club welcomes bowlers of all abilities and aims to nurture their skills while fostering a sense of camaraderie among its members.

The club has a rich history, originally disbanding in the 90s before being resurrected in 2015 as the London YBC. Since then, we have made our mark in the youth bowling scene, achieving numerous successes at the NAYBC nationals and other nationwide tournaments. With the recent refurbishment of Lewisham Lanes in 2020/21, we proudly decided to adopt the centre's name as our own, with the goal of reigniting the past glories of Lewisham's bowling community.

Coaching forms the foundation of Lewisham YBC. Led by two BTBA foundation coaches with years of experience, our staff members have been coaching the club's members since 2015. All staff and coaches are DBS verified by the BTBA and possess the necessary licencing to lead the club. We prioritise the development of every individual's bowling skills, cultivating an environment of growth and achievement.

But it's not just about the sport friendships are created and friendships last a lifetime at Lewisham YBC. Our bowlers not only bowl together but also have a tremendous amount of fun in the process. Fair play and sportsmanship are values that we deeply cherish within the club's community, both during games and when travelling to tournaments.

Neil, our head coach since 2015, has been instrumental in leading the club to various tournament victories, most notably the 2018 NAYBC nationals championship for under 10-year-olds. Alongside Neil, Sam joined the club as a foundation coach in 2018 and has played a vital role in our continued success. Both coaches possess BTBA coaching licences and contribute to adult ICC teams as well.

At Lewisham YBC, we value transparency and accountability. We provide comprehensive documentation, including BTBA general and league playing rules, the YBC constitution, code of conduct, and photo consent policy. We prioritise the safety and well-being of our members, outlining our data protection policy, equality policy, health and safety policy, and social media policy.
