About
Lilydale Montrose United Football Club, known as LMU, is a highly respected and thriving soccer club located in Montrose, Australia. Established in 2020 through the merger of Mount Lilydale Old Collegians Soccer Club and Montrose Soccer Club, LMU has quickly become a prominent figure in Football Victoria's State Leagues.
LMU boasts a diverse range of teams, including Senior Men, Women, Juniors, Thirds, and Over 35 Men, all competing at various levels within the Bayside League and Football Victoria's State Leagues. With a rich history that dates back to 1974, the club has experienced significant successes over the years, including winning the Bayside League Legendary Cup in 2009 and the Bayside 1st Division in 2011.
The club's roots trace back to humble beginnings, with the original team playing friendly matches against local rivals like Bowater Scott and Fibremakers United, now known as Croydon Ranges Football Club. The games were held on spare land behind the Fibremakers factory on Canterbury Rd, highlighting the strong community ties that have characterised LMU's history.
LMU is proud to be a not-for-profit organisation that relies on a combination of sponsorship, dedicated volunteers, community associations, and a passionate membership base to thrive. The club takes great pride in its role as a community-oriented organisation and aims to foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among its members.
The Lilydale Montrose United Football Club acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri people, who have been the custodians of the region. The club recognises the integral role that Aboriginal community elders, past and present, have played in shaping the collective history of the land.
LMU is committed to providing a platform for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy the beautiful game of soccer. Whether you are an aspiring professional, a weekend enthusiast, or a parent looking for a supportive environment for your child to develop their skills, LMU offers a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
As a member of LMU, you will have the opportunity to form lifelong friendships, develop your soccer abilities, and contribute to the greater Montrose community. We encourage you to join us and become a part of the Lilydale Montrose United Football Club family.
