Located in both Dooradoyle, Limerick, and Shannon Town, Co. Clare, Limerick Shotokan Karatedo Shojinkai offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages to learn traditional Japanese Shotokan karate. The club was founded by Darragh Muckell in 2012 and has since become a member of the JKS under the leadership of Kagawa Masao Shihan.
The club offers a range of classes for all levels, from beginners to advanced students, with a focus on traditional training methods. In addition to regular classes, members have the opportunity to participate in competitions at the local, national, and international level. Limerick Shojinkai also organises training trips to Japan, allowing members to train with some of the best in the world in the home of karate.
For children up to 8 years old, Limerick Shojinkai offers the Tiger Academy programme, which focuses on teaching fundamental aspects of traditional karate training, Japanese karate terminology and etiquette, and building self-discipline, confidence, and respect. The club prides itself on providing a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow.
