About
Linsell Farm is a horse riding school located in Woodlawn, just outside Kanata in Ottawa's West end. The school is run by Licensed Coach Pia Thomas, who has a background in Eventing and now focuses on hunter/jumpers. Pia coaches riders of all levels, from beginners to competitive Gold level riders. Melissa Miller, who is working towards becoming a registered Coach with Equestrian Canada, also assists with lessons and takes small groups to Development shows.
The facility at Linsell Farm spans across 96 acres and includes 24 stalls spread out across 4 barns. There are 2 heated tack rooms and 2 bunkies with additional storage space. Riders have access to a 60 × 130 indoor arena with fibre footing, a 110 × 220 outdoor sand ring with fibre footing, and a large grass hunt field with cross country jumps. Mares, geldings, and ponies all have separate large group turnout areas per day.
In addition to lessons, Linsell Farm also offers a summer camp program that runs in July and August. The camp activities run from 10 am to 3 pm, with the option for early drop off and late pick up. The cost is $520/week, including HST. Campers will have a morning riding lesson, a morning theory lesson, lunch, an afternoon riding lesson, and an afternoon theory lesson each day.
The week concludes with a Funshow/games on Friday afternoon, where parents are welcome to come watch their riders in action.
