Jason Thomas, the founder of Little Stars Nursery, is a highly experienced dance teacher with a Certification in Education and is a member of the Royal Academy of Dance. He is passionate about teaching young children the art of ballet and providing them with a solid foundation for their dance journey.
Terri-Anne Sawyer is another experienced dance teacher at Little Stars Nursery who specialises in jazz and tap. She guides the children in learning these dance styles and helps them develop rhythm, coordination, and musicality. Terri-Anne ensures that each child feels confident and comfortable while learning these styles of dance.
Vicky St Leger Smith is the voice coach at Little Stars Nursery. She conducts singing sessions where children explore their vocal abilities, learn different songs, and develop their musicality. Vicky's expertise helps the children improve their vocal technique and express themselves through singing.
Sally Carpender leads the music appreciation classes at Little Stars Nursery. These sessions expose the children to various genres of music and teach them about different instruments and musical concepts. Through these classes, the children develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for music.
Little Stars Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, focusing on six main areas of development: Personal, Social, and Emotional Development; Communication, Language, and Literacy; Problem Solving, Reasoning, and Numeracy; Knowledge and Understanding of the World; Physical Development; and Creative Development. The Nursery Manager, Sarah Thomas, ensures that these areas are covered and that each child receives a well-rounded education.
In addition to the academic curriculum, Little Stars Nursery offers ballet, jazz, and tap lessons to its students. The children have the opportunity to learn these dance styles from experienced teachers and develop their technique and performance skills. They are also encouraged to be independent, and the staff supports and guides them on their journey.
Little Stars Nursery welcomes children with special educational needs, ensuring that they have full access to the Early Years Foundation Stage and are valued and accepted by the staff. The Nursery Manager, Sarah Thomas, is available to address any questions or issues that parents may have, and the staff keeps parents informed about any concerns that arise during their child's time at the Nursery.
Little Stars Nursery has recently updated its opening times to better suit the needs of parents and children. The Nursery Ballet classes take place on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:00, catering to children aged 2–3 years. The Pre-School classes run on Fridays from 9:00-12:00, accommodating children aged 2–5 years. Additionally, there is a Mother and Toddler Dance class on Fridays at 12:30 for children under 5 years old.
Parents are encouraged to review the curriculum plan available at Little Stars Nursery, which may be subject to alteration as needed. It is important for parents to inform a member of staff if someone other than themselves will be collecting their child. Fees are due in advance on the 1st of every month and can be paid by cheque, cash, or standing order. A 24-hour notice is required for the lunchtime wraparound session, and all staff members who supervise the lunchtime session hold food hygiene certificates.
Uniform is mandatory for the children attending Little Stars Nursery. For ballet lessons, children are expected to wear a RAD ballet dress and ballet shoes. They are also encouraged to wear jazz and tap uniform, including tap shoes, for the respective dance sessions. All dancewear and Little Stars merchandise, such as tracksuits, t-shirts, and bags, are available for purchase through the nursery.
