Hey everyone,
Mike Dunn, the organiser of Liverpool Karate-Jutsu, wants to share a quick note with you all. You might already know that Liverpool Karate-Jutsu is a freestyle karate club right in the heart of Liverpool. Mike’s main goal is to build a strong bond between students and instructors, giving everyone the chance to reach their best in Karate-Jutsu.
Mike’s club sticks to traditional martial arts but mixes in self-defence techniques that work for today’s world. He’s keen on making sure there’s something for everyone, no matter your fitness level, experience, or background. They even run special classes for the blind and visually impaired.
Gradings are a big deal at the club. Mike insists on teaching traditional karate kihon from 9th Kyu to 1st Kyu and beyond. The training is all about real techniques, partner work, and blending different martial arts styles. What you learn will depend on your age and kyu level.
Joining Liverpool Karate-Jutsu means you can expect to get better at self-defence, improve your endurance, coordination, fitness, and build both physical and mental strength. The central location makes it easy for anyone in the city to pop by.
Mike Dunn, a 3rd Dan in Karate-Jutsu, leads the way. He started at Hartford Karate Club and earned his black belt through sheer dedication. Mike believes training should be fun but also serious— and that’s the vibe at the club.
The club is part of the Cobra Martial Arts Association and meets all the standards of the Martial Arts Standards Agency, so you know you’re in good hands. Plus, Mike gets a Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure check every two years, meeting all Cobra’s regulations.
People love the club. One parent mentioned how the friendly and relaxed atmosphere boosted their child's confidence. Another student appreciated the self-defence aspect and praised the friendly and exciting teaching style. Others highlighted the fun and fitness, alongside the great teaching and modern techniques.
If you’re interested, you can reach out to Liverpool Karate-Jutsu via their website or social media. Classes are every Thursday evening at St Michaels Church Hall on Belgrave Road in Aigburth, starting at 6.30 pm.
Catch you there!
