Locksley Stud is a reputable horse riding school located in Locksley, Australia. Established in 2015, the school is situated on a spacious 150-acre property, providing ample space for the breeding, raising, and training of Australian Warmblood and Hanoverian/Rhinland horses.
At Locksley Stud, the focus is entirely on the horses. Following the principles of FEI (2003), the school aims to achieve harmonious development in the physique and abilities of the horses. This approach ensures that the horses are calm, supple, loose, and flexible, while also being confident, attentive, and keen. Such well-rounded training enables the horse to establish a perfect understanding with the rider, forming the core essence of Dressage.
Louise Taylor, the trained and experienced horse riding instructor and dressage trainer at Locksley Stud, is a qualified NCAS AHRC Level 1 coach. With a strong passion for dressage and a desire to achieve great success, Louise has honed her expertise by working and training with highly talented riders and coaches. Her comprehensive understanding of the foundations of dressage has enabled her to successfully start, train, and compete with performance horses. Throughout this process, Louise has developed deep bonds with the horses, making her teaching journey incredibly rewarding.
The school offers various lessons for riders with different goals. Private lessons, conducted at Locksley Stud's secure enclosed outdoor arena, are available for $70 per hour. Additionally, group lessons, catering to 2–4 riders, are priced at $35 per rider for a one-hour session. Louise Taylor also provides the option of travelling to clients' locations for lessons upon arrangement.
Locksley Stud also offers comprehensive agistment services for horse owners. Private five-acre paddocks, equipped with secure picketed five plain wire electrified fencing with sight/safety caps, are provided for the convenience and safety of the horses. The paddocks are regularly rotated, harrowed, and spelled to ensure optimal conditions. Full board agistment is available for $200 per week, which includes a private paddock for the horse, daily check-ups, hard feeding, rugging, and care.
Additionally, full board agistment provides the benefit of seven days of arena hire and one free 45-minute lesson on the agisted horse each month. Part board agistment is available for $125 per week, consisting of a private paddock with daily check-ups and hard feeding. For self-care agistment, priced at $55 per week, a private paddock is provided, and hay is required to be provided by the agistee or can be added at an additional cost.
