Highgate Harriers Disability Squad member, Ben Adams, showcased an impressive performance at the recent London Indoor Games held on Sunday, January 21st. Despite being classified as a Cerebral Palsy athlete, Ben fearlessly competed in the 60m sprint against non-disabled athletes, clocking in times of 9.32s and 9.31s.
Sharing his experience, the 31-year-old shared, “I really enjoyed the competition and hope to participate in more. I absolutely love training with Anthony on Thursday nights at the track.” It is evident that Ben's enthusiasm and dedication greatly contribute to his success.
Coach Anthony Norris expressed his admiration for Ben's achievements, emphasising the importance of enjoyment in races. He said, “Ben did exceptionally well, but what matters most is that he thoroughly enjoyed the races.” Highgate Harriers prides itself on working closely with Ben Dorsett of Camden Sport and Physical Activity Department to ensure that Camden's disabled community receives the sporting opportunities that they rightfully deserve.
On Ben's remarkable performance, Dorsett praised his efforts and expressed his satisfaction with the chance for Ben to both train and compete. He stated, “It’s great to see Ben getting the opportunity to race as well as train. Well done to him and Anthony.”
Highgate Harriers warmly welcomes individuals with disabilities to join their athletics training sessions held every Thursday night from 5.15pm to 6pm at the Parliament Hill athletics track.
