Maesteg Canoe Club is a not-for-profit community club located in Maesteg, South Wales. They have been recognised by Disability Sports Wales with an 'Insport Gold' award, which signifies their dedication to being a disability-inclusive club. As a member of Canoe Wales, the governing body for the sport, Maesteg Canoe Club holds itself to high standards. In fact, they were awarded Canoe Wales' CLUB OF THE YEAR in 2018, a testament to their commitment to excellence. The club's coaches have over 100 years of combined experience and are able to provide expert tuition in kayak and canoe paddling across various disciplines.
The Maesteg Canoe Club committee consists of dedicated individuals who oversee the club's operations. Emily serves as the Chairperson and Safeguarding Officer, Sharon as the Club Secretary, Keith as the President, Dan as the Coach Development Officer, Gary as the Disability Inclusion Officer, Cheryl as the Treasurer, Michael as the Training and Welfare Officer, Leanne as the Event Organiser, Chris as the Club Officer, and Jon as the Equipment Officer.
To become a member of Maesteg Canoe Club, individuals must pay an annual club membership fee, due annually on April 1st. Additionally, active club members are required to obtain Canoe Wales Membership and Insurance, which is managed by Canoe Wales. It is important to book and pay for each paddling session in advance, as the club no longer accepts cash payments at the pool. Regular attendees of pool sessions have the option to sign up for a monthly subscription instead of paying weekly session fees.
