Nicola Curry, the Artistic Director of Maiden Voyage Dance, wishes to share some exciting updates with the sports community. Based in Belfast, the company, founded in 2002, is all about delivering unique dance performances for artists, audiences, and participants.
Maiden Voyage Dance works across three main areas: Maiden Belfast, showcasing theatre venue-based performances; Dance Exposed, which brings short new works to public spaces; and Off Spring, focusing on new pieces for young audiences.
What's truly special about Maiden Voyage Dance is its commitment to local and international artists. Nicola believes in dance as a powerful form of artistic expression and aims to create chances for artists to innovate and explore. Through diverse performances, they strive to captivate and inspire all ages.
The company is managed by a voluntary Board of Directors and operates as a charity under the NI Charity Commission. They receive annual funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council, along with support from various trusts and foundations.
Nicola highlights their collaborations with artists like Vasiliki Stasinaki from Greece and Sarah Gordon from Northern Ireland. Upcoming projects include a new performance installation in November at Queen Street Studios, part of the Belfast International Arts Festival 2023.
Nicola Curry is proud of Maiden Voyage Dance’s role in supporting artists, engaging audiences, and delivering exceptional dance performances. Their contributions continue to make a significant impact in Belfast and beyond.
