Located on Anne Street, Malanda Tennis Club offers a fantastic facility for tennis enthusiasts. Nestled beside the scenic Johnson river and surrounded by lush rainforest, the courts provide a peaceful and tranquil setting for players to enjoy the sport.
The club offers various services and activities to cater to different tennis interests. For those looking to improve their skills, coaching sessions are available with Coach Emma. Whether you're a beginner or advanced player, Coach Emma can provide personalised training to help you reach your tennis goals. To register your interest or learn more, contact Coach Emma at em_hiles@hotmail.
com or 04 0293 6430.
Every Wednesday evening, the club hosts social tennis, welcoming players of all skill levels. The session runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, providing an opportunity for members to connect with fellow tennis enthusiasts and enjoy a friendly game. Tableland club members can participate for $5, while non-club members are charged $8. Rain or shine, social tennis continues throughout December and January.
Malanda Tennis Club also takes part in the tablelands Sunday Fixtures. From late March to October, the Eacham team competes against other teams from Mareeba, Atherton, and potentially Ravenshoe. Matches are played on a home and away basis, offering participants a chance to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. For more information regarding the Sunday Fixtures, contact Todd at 07 4096 6947.
Court hire is available through the local SPAR supermarket in town. It costs $20 per court for a morning or afternoon session. However, for club members, court hire is free, and the key can be collected from SPAR. It's important to note that court hire is not available when coaching, fixtures, or social tennis sessions are taking place.
To support the maintenance and potential upgrades of the facilities, Malanda Tennis Club encourages individuals to become club members. Membership fees, valid for one year, are currently set at $50 for adults, $30 for juniors, and $130 for families. Benefits of membership include free court hire, affiliation with Tennis Australia, and discounted rates for social tennis. Members are also invited to attend the annual general meeting held in February and participate in any working bees to help maintain the club's premises.
Membership can be paid in person during working hours or soon online through the Tennis Australia club membership site. For any inquiries regarding membership, feel free to contact the president, Todd Rutherford, at 07 4096 6947.
