Manchester Diving Group

Had gained a strong reputation in the diving community. He approached the club and asked them to consider becoming a branch of the newly formed BSAC. The members agreed and in 1953, MDG became the first branch of BSAC in the North West of England.

Over the years, MDG has continued to grow and thrive. The club has seen many changes and improvements to its facilities and activities. In the 1990s, the clubhouse was expanded to accommodate the increasing number of members and provide a comfortable space for socialising and training. A well-stocked equipment room with a compressor and nitrox station was added to ensure that divers have access to all the necessary gear for their dives.

Today, MDG is known for its commitment to promoting safe and enjoyable diving experiences. The club welcomes divers from all training backgrounds, whether they have just completed their Open Water certification or are experienced divers looking for a supportive community. The focus is on having fun and building camaraderie among members.

Membership fees at MDG are designed to be affordable and accessible. The club aims to keep costs down and reinvest any surplus into diving equipment or club facilities. Currently, membership is priced at 120 per year or 10 per month by direct debit. Social membership is also available at a cost of 20 per year.

From its humble beginnings as the Sunlight House Divers, the club has evolved and adapted to the changing needs and advancements in diving. The name Manchester Diving Group was adopted in 1956, and the club has been an active part of the diving community ever since.
