Marble Range Football Club, located in Wangary, is a proud member of the Port Lincoln Football League in South Australia. Established in 1938, the club has a rich history and deep roots in the local community. The club was founded with E. Richsteig as its first President and Lance Puckridge as Secretary, with maroon and white as their team colours.
The club experienced early success, winning topships in 1940 and 1941.
During World War II, the club went into recess, but it was reformed in 1953 with H. E. Broad as President and B. W.
Puckridge as Secretary. It was during this time that the team changed its colours to black and white, which they still proudly wear today. Before being allowed to enter an A Grade team in the Port Lincoln Football League, the club had to win a B Grade flag, which they achieved in 1956.
The club's greatest successes came in the 1990s, with a total of 12 leadingships in all grades. The A Grade team won leadingships in 1978, 1997, and 1998, while the B Grade team achieved success in 1989. The club places a strong emphasis on being family-oriented, and this is evident through the multiple Life Memberships awarded to names like Hull, Morgan, Puckridge, Charlton, Shepperd, and Sampson.
Marble Range Football Club's Constitution is available for viewing on their social media and club directories. Those interested can also contact Secretary Angus Martin for further information. The club is proud of its Life Members, who have been recognised for their outstanding service of 15 years or more. These members have made invaluable contributions to the club's success and include individuals like Ida Hull, Joan Morgan, Lance Puckridge, Trevor Adams, and Helen Charlton, among many others.
Former Office Bearers and Coaching staff can be seen on the Honour Board inside the clubrooms, which are located in the Wangary Hall. The club's song, which is sung with passion and pride, is a symbol of their unity and determination. The club has seen great success in recent years, with multiple teams finishing as Minor premiers in season 2000 and A Grade and B Grade going on to win the Grand Finals.
Marble Range Football Club is not just a football club; it is a community centre that brings people together. The club's history, values, and achievements make it an integral part of the Wangary community. With a strong commitment to family and a focused approach to the sport, Marble Range Football Club continues to thrive and inspire future generations in Australian rules football.
