Ste-Anne River was noticed in the winter of 1938, when a local resident was cutting blocks of ice for iceboxes and saw numerous fish swimming playfully in the sandy river bottom. This marked the beginning of a great adventure. Villagers built ice fishing huts on the river, and word spread quickly about the unique fishing opportunity. People came from far and wide to experience this special activity, arriving by train on the Canadian Pacific Railway since winter roads were closed.
Visitors were greeted with picturesque scenes, often picked up by horse-drawn sleds.
The G. Marceau & Filles outfitter was established in 1960 by Mr. Guy Marceau. For decades, they have been dedicated to offering comfortable and well-appointed fishing cabins to provide anglers with the best possible fishing conditions.
In 2017, the outfitter was taken over by Isabelle Jacob, continuing Mr. Marceau's legacy as he enjoyed a well-deserved retirement.
