About
Step into the world of the Margaret Haes Riding Centre, right in Bury. For over half a century, this place has been a game-changer for folks with disabilities, both young and old. Founded by Margaret Haes, the centre offers the thrill of riding ponies across the stunning West Pennine Moors in the Holcombe area.
Margaret knows volunteers are the heart and soul of the centre. Whether you’re into riding, fundraising, joining the committee, or even just want to help out with some DIY, there’s a spot for you. Just one hour a week can make a big difference. And yes, there will be coffee and biscuits!
One of the standout features? Pony Days during school holidays. These days are all about fun and responsibility, giving each rider a taste of what it’s like to own a horse. Perfect for beginners and seasoned riders alike, these days are tailored to fit everyone’s age and ability.
Got a birthday or special occasion coming up? Margaret's got you covered with Birthday Parties designed for all ages and riding skills. It’s a unique way to celebrate and leaves the kids with unforgettable memories.
For those looking to sharpen their riding skills, the centre offers group, semi-private, and private lessons in both indoor and outdoor schools. Bring your own horse or ride one of theirs. The BHS Accredited Professional Coaches are there to guide you every step of the way. Plus, the group rides for disabled riders are Pay as You Feel, so everyone can join in.
Margaret Haes Riding Centre is also about celebrating achievements. From climbing the tallest peaks in Wales, England, and Scotland to hosting an epic Midsummer Night's Dream performance, there’s always something amazing happening here.
Find them at Higher House Stables, Moor Road, Holcombe, Bury. Proud to be a registered charity (Charity No. 1106437), they’re deeply rooted in the Bury community. Got questions about instructors, prices, or rider forms? Just give them a shout.
Thanks for checking out the Margaret Haes Riding Centre, where horse riding changes lives.
