Bowling green, and in 1985, Mark Moor Bowling Club moved to its current location next to Mark Village Hall in the beautiful Somerset village of Mark.
Over the years, Mark Moor Bowling Club has become known as a friendly and sociable place for bowlers of all ages and abilities. The club is run entirely by its members, who are passionate about promoting the sport of bowling and creating a welcoming atmosphere for both beginners and experienced players.
The outdoor club evenings start in April and take place on Mondays and Thursdays, with a start time of 5:30pm early in the season and 6:00pm later on. The men play in two leagues – an over-55s league on midweek afternoons and a Saturday afternoon county league. The ladies play mid-week in the local Victoria league. Additionally, there are mixed friendly games that everyone can participate in.
The outdoor season comes to an end in mid-September.
The club boasts a lovely bowling green that is well-maintained and provides a great playing surface for members. The cosy clubhouse is the perfect place to relax and socialise after a game, with a bar where players can enjoy a drink and a chat. Mark Moor Bowling Club also hosts regular fun events, such as the weekly Umbrella, where members can come together for a casual game and enjoy some friendly competition.
Mark Moor Bowling Club welcomes new players and offers free coaching to beginners to help them get started in the sport. If you are new to the club in 2024, you will have a reduced subscription fee of 50 and will be eligible for three free training sessions before deciding whether to join. The club encourages new players to participate in competitive fixtures as soon as they feel ready, but there is no rush – there's always time to practise, improve, and enjoy the game at your own pace.
In addition to regular club activities, Mark Moor Bowling Club also welcomes touring teams to their facilities. With an excellent green, great catering, and ample parking, the club provides everything needed for an enjoyable bowling experience.
