At Marlborough Athletics, we prioritise the development and wellbeing of our athletes. We offer training sessions for various age groups, starting from 7 years old and extending to individuals of all ages. Our coaches focus on developing fundamental skills such as running, jumping, and throwing, while also emphasising the importance of agility, strength, speed, and stamina.
For our younger athletes, aged 7 to 11, we have a Learn to Run programme that introduces them to the basics of athletics. We aim to foster a love for the sport and help them develop skills in QuadKids events in preparation for the under 11's category. As they progress, we gradually introduce them to events covered by Oxford 5 star and other local competitions, building their confidence and honing their abilities.
Our U13 athletes and above receive comprehensive training to maintain a broad range of skills in both track and field events. We work on developing their individual strengths and talents, ensuring they have the tools necessary to excel in their chosen events. Additionally, we prioritise overall fitness to support their athleticism and offer regular opportunities for competition to further enhance their growth as athletes.
Marlborough Athletics is privileged to have access to the Marlborough College Athletics Track for our training sessions. However, please note that there is no parking available at the track itself. Ample parking can be found at the College car park, but we kindly ask that all members park or drop off at the water meadow car park and follow the designated path up to the track. This ensures that emergency vehicle access remains clear and the safety of all athletes is maintained.
Our club is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who tirelessly contribute their time and expertise to its success. They undertake various tasks, including coaching, officiating, team management, administrative duties, event organisation, communication and advertising, financial management, equipment maintenance, and website updates. We are always on the lookout for new volunteers who are willing to support our club and help us continue providing a high-quality athletic experience.
