With a rich history dating back to 1830, our family-owned business has been run by the Marven family since 1920. Over the years, the stables, and livery services have evolved, and today we take pride in providing exceptional care for our 44 horses.

Situated on over 30 acres of lush pasture land, Marvens is home to a blend of modern and traditional brick stables. The legacy of our establishment is now in the capable hands of Debbie Marven, who continues to nurture our passion and understanding of horses.

Whether you've never ridden before and have always wanted to try it, or you're an experienced rider looking to further your skills, Marvens has something for everyone. Our riding school welcomes riders of all ages, from juniors to seniors, offering tailored tuition on a diverse range of ponies and horses. With our friendly owners and staff, who possess a lifetime of knowledge and experience in equines, you can rest assured that you're in safe hands.

Located in Wickham Bishops, just a short drive from both Colchester and Chelmsford in Essex, our expansive and well-maintained yard is the perfect setting for learning and riding. We boast three sand riding arenas and acres of turnout space, providing excellent facilities for riders to hone their equestrian skills.

At Marvens, we offer a range of services to cater to all needs. Group lessons and private lessons are available for riders aged 4 years old and above. Looking to celebrate a special occasion? We also host birthday parties for all ages, providing a unique and memorable experience.

For those who own their own horse, we offer private tuition on your own mount, ensuring that you both receive the attention and guidance required to enhance your riding journey. Additionally, during school holidays, we organise Pony Mornings from 9am to 1pm, allowing young enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the world of horses.
