At the Maureen Jeffery School of Dance, students have worked hard to earn their Diploma in Dance Education, showing their skills in everything from planning and evaluating dance to understanding the link between music and dance. This is thanks to the dedication of both students and their committed teachers.
Founded in 1997 in Southport, the Maureen Jeffery School of Dance is led by Maureen Jeffery herself, who is a Fellow and Examiner of the ISTD and holds a Royal Academy of Dance Teachers Diploma. She and her team of experienced teachers work tirelessly to create a centre of excellence for dance.
Each student at the Maureen Jeffery School of Dance is treated as an individual. Small class sizes ensure personalised attention, helping everyone reach their full potential. Teachers act as role models, fostering a positive and encouraging environment for kids to grow and develop.
Located conveniently in the Temperance Institute building on London Street—right in the town centre opposite the main railway station and next to an NCP Car Park—the school boasts two spacious studios for ample training space.
As an approved dance centre, the school offers top-notch dance education and training. Maureen Jeffery is ISTD-approved to deliver teaching qualifications equivalent to the first year of a degree course. Training is available for students aged 17 and older who are working towards or have achieved their Intermediate examination, covering subjects like Imperial Ballet, Classical Greek, Modern Theatre, National Folk Dance, Tap, and R.A. Ballet. There are also opportunities for suitable students to study GCSE Dance.
One of the school's standout features is its commitment to individual attention and flexible schedules to fit students’ availability. Maureen Jeffery arranges flexible timetables, and there's the option for one-on-one or small group lessons by the Principal.
Recent successes speak for themselves, with students completing various qualifications such as the DD1 and DDE. These achievements highlight the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers at the school.
In short, for those in the Southport area, the Maureen Jeffery School of Dance offers a nurturing and high-quality education where talents can truly shine.
