MCC Netball is a vibrant and successful sports club based in Melbourne. Established in 2011, the club has grown to include 50 players across five teams. We compete in the Parkville Netball Competitions at the State Netball Centre. Led by our experienced head coach, Robyne Dawson, and supported by four team coaches, MCC Netball is dedicated to providing an enjoyable and healthy netball experience for our members.
Our top three teams play in premier divisions on Tuesday evenings, demonstrating our commitment to high-performance netball. The remaining two teams compete in Monday night open grades, catering to a range of skill levels. Training sessions are held every Thursday evening at the Oakleigh Recreation Centre to ensure that our players have the opportunity to develop their skills and fitness.
At MCC Netball, our core values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Participation, Performance, and Fun underpin everything we do. We strive to create a positive and inclusive culture that prioritises player development and enjoyment. Active member engagement is encouraged, and we organise a variety of social events throughout the year to foster strong relationships among our members. From footy functions at the iconic MCG to trivia nights and SSN netball events, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Our club's history is marked by remarkable achievements. Originally a special interest group, three MCC teams entered the Parkville Netball Competitions in 2011 and immediately tasted success by winning the Monday night open A1 topship in their inaugural season. In recognition of netball's significant position within the Melbourne Cricket Club, it was granted Sporting Section status in 2013. The number of teams gradually increased to five, and in the spring of 2014, the MCC 1 team finished an undefeated season by clinching the leading Open Division 3 title.
Our MCC 1 team now competes in the premier Open Division 1 and recently claimed the Division 1 premiership in 2021. We take great pride in the growth and accomplishments of our club over the past decade.
