Welcome to Meadowlands Fishery, Coventry's leading fishing club located in Ryton on the outskirts of the city. Meadowlands Fishery boasts two beautiful lakes, Lambsdown and Warren, offering a total of 108 pegs for anglers to enjoy.
Lambsdown is the largest lake, spanning 11 acres and featuring 72 pegs. It offers a varied depth, ranging from 4 to 14 feet at its deepest point. Carp fishing is a highlight during the summer months, with carp weighing up to 27lb. In the winter, bream fishing is exceptional, making Lambsdown a popular destination for anglers looking to catch silvers.
Summer matches often see 200lb of carp winning, while winter matches are won with around 50lb of silvers.
Warren is the smaller of the two lakes, covering 11 acres and featuring 36 pegs. It remains 4 feet deep all over and is home to carp weighing over 20lb. Warren also offers fantastic bream fishing opportunities. With a minimum of 16 anglers, Warren is perfect for club matches, and parking is available behind the pegs.
This lake is particularly suited for pole fishing.
Meadowlands Fishery offers various pricing options for anglers. Pleasure fishing is available at 11 per peg, with an additional 15 fee for two rods. A 24-hour ticket can be purchased for 20, allowing anglers to fish day and night. For match bookings, there is a fee of 11 per peg.
Additionally, there are specific peg arrangements for matches on Lambsdown and Warren, ensuring fair competition.
The fishery has a range of rules and restrictions in place to protect the environment and promote responsible fishing practises. Only fishery feed pellets are allowed (with a 6 mm limit on Warren). Nets must be dried before the start of a match, and barbless hooks are mandatory. There is a 80lb net limit, with two carp and one silver counting towards the weight.
Silvers have a separate 60lb limit. Anglers are required to take all rubbish with them and adhere to the rules outlined at the fishery. Dogs are not permitted, and braid is prohibited.
Carp fishing is a popular activity at Meadowlands Fishery, offering a range of doubles and some 20lb fish. The largest fish caught on record weighed 31lb, and if you catch it first, you have the privilege of naming it! Membership is required for all night anglers, ensuring that only members are present on the fishery during night fishing sessions. Bait boats and spodding are allowed, and anglers can use two rods without any specific rig rules, as long as they use barbless hooks.
For tips and advice, anglers can find numerous videos on Youtube or conduct a simple Google search. Meadowlands Fishery has a rich history, dug out in the 1980s for sand and gravel and later transformed into a fishery in the 1990s by John Bloor. In 2000, it was taken over by Dean Young and his consortium, who developed it into the thriving fishery it is today. Now, Meadowlands Fishery is managed by three friends Mick and Tim Bull, along with Nigel Harrhy who boast over 30 years of fishing experience.
All three have pleasure fished, carp fished, and competed in the prestigious 16 peg Fish O'Mania final, with Mick taking home the title in 2008.
