Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor programme

The Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme is an intensive training programme that offers a unique opportunity for individuals who dream of becoming instructors and running their own branches. This programme is designed for those who are highly committed to the teaching of martial arts and possess outstanding skills.

The programme consists of 6 levels of progression, each focusing on specific aspects of coaching and class management. To obtain the Probationary Instructor level, participants must competently achieve all 6 levels. Monthly seminars at HQ, led by experienced instructor and business mentor Sifu Steve Carpenter, provide coaching and management skills training. In addition, participants receive hands-on training in actual classes once a week to develop the high level of skill required to become a Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Coach.

It's important to note that this programme is free of charge. However, we can only accept a limited number of new recruits each year, and strict guidelines must be adhered to throughout the 4-year duration. There are also additional costs involved, including coaching kit (£60), coaching manual (£15), and a DBS check (£9).

At Level 1, participants engage in basic class involvement duties such as setting up equipment and conducting health and safety checks. Level 2 introduces coaching skills and includes pad and drill training under strict supervision. Level 3 covers class management systems, including maintaining the class register and organising students before and after training sessions. Moving on to Level 4, participants focus on advanced coaching skills, coaching small groups, and maximising student participation. Level 5 emphasises demonstration coaching ability, equipment set up, and curriculum training for small groups. Finally, Level 6 provides tuition on branch management, covering economics, enrolment, marketing, recruitment, maintenance, insurance, and first aid.

Upon successfully completing Level 6, individuals are awarded Provisional Instructor status. We offer a one-year trial period for new instructors to open their own branch, subject to meeting the standards outlined in the Instructors handbook. A successful trial period leads to full Instructor status. Furthermore, if needed, Meridian Kung Fu (UK) can provide a full-time premises on a lease basis in any area of the UK.
