The Meridian Kung Fu (UK) Instructor Programme offers individuals in Benfleet, the opportunity to pursue their passion for martial arts and become a Meridian Kung Fu Instructor. This unique programme sets itself apart from other options, providing a fulfilling career path in the world of mixed martial arts.
To become a Meridian Kung Fu Instructor, participants must demonstrate exceptional skill and a strong commitment to teaching this beautiful martial art. They should have a burning desire to educate and enhance the lives of their students. The programme consists of 6 Levels of progression, which are taught to recruits.
Led by experienced Instructor and business mentor, Sifu Steve Carpenter, the programme includes monthly 2-hour seminars at the headquarters. These sessions focus on coaching and management skills, preparing aspiring instructors for their future roles. Recruits also receive hands-on training in actual classes once a week to further develop their skills.
Participation in the Instructor Programme is entirely free of charge. However, due to limited availability, only a set number of new recruits are accepted each year. It is important to follow the strict guidelines throughout the 4-year programme. Recruits are required to purchase coaching kit (£60), a coaching manual (£15), and undergo a DBS check (£9) to ensure safety.
The six levels of the Instructor Programme provide a comprehensive training experience:
LEVEL 1: Recruits learn basic involvement in class duties, including equipment setup, training area preparation, and basic health and safety checks.
LEVEL 2: Introduction to coaching, where recruits receive training in pad and drill techniques under strict supervision. They also learn how to establish rapport with students and assist with warmups.
LEVEL 3: This level focuses on class management systems. Recruits learn to maintain the class register, organise students before and after training sessions, maintain order in the training area, and follow the curriculum. They also assist with cool down.
LEVEL 4: Advanced coaching skills are taught at this level. Recruits learn to coach small groups, maximise student participation, conduct enjoyable and effective sessions, and run warmups and cool downs.
LEVEL 5: This level demonstrates the coaching ability of recruits. They are responsible for equipment setup, health and safety checks, small group curriculum training, and warmups and cool downs.
LEVEL 6: The final level covers branch management tuition, including economics and enrolment, marketing and recruitment, maintenance, insurance, and first aid.
Upon successful completion of Level 6, participants are granted Provisional Instructor status. Meridian Kung Fu (UK) then offers a one-year trial period for new Instructors to open a branch within a designated zone. If all the standards outlined in the Instructors handbook are met, participants will be awarded FULL INSTRUCTOR status. Additionally, if needed, Meridian Kung Fu (UK) can provide a full-time leased premises anywhere in the UK.
Becoming a Meridian Kung Fu Instructor is not just a job, it is a true passion. For more information, individuals are encouraged to speak to their branch instructor and start their journey towards becoming a qualified instructor in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
