Welcome to MKUD Makedonija Wollongong Macedonian Cultural and Folkoric Dancing Group – a Branch of the Macedonian Orthodox Community of the City of Greater Wollongong “Saint Dimitrija Solunski”.
MKUD Makedonija has been a branch of the Macedonian Orthodox Community of the City of Greater Wollongong “Saint Dimitrija Solunski” since 1982. This vibrant dance group in Wollongong offers Macedonian dance and language classes for children, young men, and young women. MKUD Makedonija plays a vital role in maintaining the Macedonian culture and tradition for the children through its music, language, dancing, social activities, and fundraising events.
The group has performed at various events and dances all around Australia, including Sydney, Newcastle, Queanbeyan, Canberra, Melbourne, Queensland, Perth, and even a P & O cruise. In 2010, MKUD Makedonija had the privilege of travelling to Macedonia to showcase their talent. They have also participated in multicultural festivals such as Viva-La-Gong in Wollongong and Floriade in Canberra.
Dance training is held every Wednesday at the Sun Lounge Function Centre on Stewart Street in Wollongong from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The talented choreographer, Thomas Vangelovski, leads the training. Additionally, Macedonian language classes are offered at the same venue from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. The cost for the language classes is $100 per child per year, which includes an MKUD training t-shirt.
MKUD Makedonija has recently relocated its dance training and language classes to the Sun Lounge Function Centre on Stewart Street in Wollongong. The classes take place every Wednesday from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. Registrations open in February each year.
Registrations for Macedonian dancing and language classes for the upcoming year will commence on 7 February 2018. The dance group's choreographer, Thomas Vangelovski, and language teacher, Lile Spiroski, will conduct the classes. Dance fees are $100 per dancer per year, while the language classes are free of charge. MKUD Makedonija welcomes everyone to register, and they encourage participants to invite their family and friends to join as well.
