Monmouth Golf Club has a rich history, dating back to its formation on June 25th, 1896. The club was initially established in the Kings Head Hotel and later moved to Vauxhall, where it took over an existing club and its course for a brief period. At the time, the club struggled to attract new members due to the length of the grass on the fairways, which the landowner intended to use for haymaking. A court case followed, resulting in a High Court ruling in 1910 that defined a fairway, ultimately in the club's favour.
Despite several attempts to reopen, the course was closed in 1912, until it was reformed at Dixton in 1920. The club's first professional, George Waldron, laid out a scenic nine-hole course in 1921, which was officially opened on October 1st of that year. Over the years, improvements were made, leading to the formation of an 18-hole course and a new clubhouse in 1992. In 2008, the club was successful in purchasing the previously rented area of the course, resulting in the club now wholly owning the picturesque 18-hole, par 69 course.
The Monmouth Golf Club invites visitors to join their club and experience the beauty and challenges of their course. Detailed information on how to find the club is available, and they welcome inquiries via phone or email. The club acknowledges its sponsors and expresses gratitude for their support.
In conclusion, Monmouth Golf Club is a renowned golfing destination in Monmouth, New Zealand. With its scenic and challenging course, coupled with a welcoming clubhouse, the club aims to provide an unforgettable experience for its members and guests.
