Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club Ground, located in Gloucestershire, is the home of Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club. The club, established in 2023, has had mixed fortunes on the field but is dedicated to growing its membership and ensuring a sound footing for the upcoming 2024 season.
The cricket ground provides a picturesque setting for matches and training sessions. It boasts excellent facilities, including a recently completed new practise facility with nets, which were added in 2017. These nets have proven to be an outstanding addition to the already magnificent home at Batsford Road. The club extends its gratitude to all those involved in making this project a success, with a special mention for Mr Martin Jones, who worked tirelessly to bring the nets to fruition.
The club is also grateful for the support received from the Somerfield Charitable Trust and other companies and organisations involved in the project.
Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club actively welcomes new members, both male and female, of all ages and abilities. In particular, they have a thriving women's cricket squad, with over 15 players. Ladies and girls aged 13 and above are warmly invited to join, with no upper age limit. Experience or knowledge of cricket is not necessary, as the club focuses on playing for fun and provides opportunities to play both softball and hardball cricket.
Summer training takes place on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, while winter provides opportunities for indoor training and games.
The club is also seeking players, helpers, umpires, and scorers to further grow their playing and social membership. If interested in becoming involved in any way, individuals are encouraged to reach out to the club for more information. Practise for the adult teams is held every Thursday evening throughout the summer.
Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club is dedicated to the development and growth of junior cricket. The club's teams have had successful seasons, and some junior players are already being introduced to adult cricket. The All Stars and Dynamos programmes, aimed at younger players, will continue in 2024 following a successful eight weeks the previous summer. The club would like to thank parents, coaches, and helpers for their unwavering support.
In addition to cricket activities, Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club also hosts various events throughout the year. The club's popular Bank Holiday Boot sales, which attracted a good turnout in 2023, will be confirmed for the spring of 2024. Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club is pleased to host a CAMRA Beer festival in September 2024, with full details to be announced soon.
