Paul Offord, the dedicated organiser of Mount Cricket Club, wants to share some exciting updates and events with the sports community.
For those who aren’t familiar, Mount Cricket Club is a well-established, family-orientated cricket club in the picturesque Southend-on-Sea. The club focuses on keeping Sunday cricket alive and vibrant, while maintaining competitive standards on the field. Paul ensures the club is always warm and welcoming to players of all abilities, offering a safe and inclusive environment for both participants and supporters.
Mount Cricket Club is fortunate to have Alleyn Court Prep School as its home ground, providing a beautiful setting for matches. The facilities, including the pitch, nets, and pavilion, are excellent, promising an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. The enclosed ground also offers a safe and inviting atmosphere for supporters.
Most matches take place on Sundays, with formats ranging from 30 to 40 overs per side and traditional timed games. Recently, evening 20–20 matches have been added to the fixture list. The highlight is the annual two-innings-per-side 20-20 'Test' match. These new formats reflect the club's adaptability and willingness to embrace change while balancing players' time constraints with the desire for competitive cricket.
Mount Cricket Club has also formed close ties with nearby Westcliff CC, allowing players to join their ranks on Saturdays in the Hamro Foundation Essex League. This collaboration broadens the network and provides additional opportunities for players to showcase their skills.

In memory of their beloved member David Thomas, Mount Cricket Club will be playing a special match against Westcliff at Chalkwell Park on 17th September. David was a prominent figure in both clubs, and this game aims to celebrate his many years of service. All current, part-time, retired, or visiting players who have played with David are invited to participate. Even if you can't play, your presence to celebrate David's life would be greatly appreciated. The club is also collecting stories and anecdotes about David, which will be compiled for everyone to see on the day.
The recent President's Match against the London Strikers was a great success. The President's XI, mainly consisting of Mount players, along with all-rounder Liam Nugent from Southend & EMT, delivered a fantastic game. Paul extends his thanks to The Indian Chefs, located at 109 Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea, for their sponsorship.
Paul Offord and Mount Cricket Club welcome all cricket enthusiasts to join them in embracing the spirit of cricket while fostering a strong sense of community and competition. For further details, stay updated on the club's news and fixtures through their social media platforms. 📅🏏
