After dining at the newly opened Guy's Cliffe House Hotel, the group played a 5-hole match and decided to start a golf club. On 31st May 1905, Hebden Bridge Golf Club was born, initially with a 9-hole course at Dodnaze Farm.
In 1912, the club moved to Mount Skip and expanded to a full 18-hole course, designed by Herbert Vardon. The course still retains much of its original charm, and the clubhouse is a converted Grade I listed Farmhouse and Barn, adding to the club's unique vibe.
Hebden Bridge Golf Club is dedicated to preserving its stunning natural landscape. The course offers scenic views of the Emley Moor TV mast to the east and Stoodley Pike to the west. It's also home to rare black grouse and features areas of heather, gorse, and bilberries.
The club is open to golfers of all levels. The challenging 9-hole course demands careful navigation of the hillside layout, with 18 different tee positions and subtly contoured greens adding to the challenge.
The clubhouse offers superb views, CP's Bar named after Philip Astin, locker rooms, a function room, and a large car park. Friendly members ensure a warm welcome for all visitors and golf societies. Corporate and private golf days are available with tailored packages. The club is also an excellent venue for functions and meetings.
