The coaches at Mount Maunganui Surf Academy are top-notch, with the highest qualifications and lots of experience. They cater to all ages and skill levels, offering one-on-one lessons, family sessions (if the kids are over 7), and special lessons just for children.
For those who've got the basics down and want to hit the waves on their own, George’s academy also rents out boards at great rates, giving surfers the freedom to surf when they choose.
After a day of surfing, George recommends checking out Astrolabe Brew Bar, a local favourite. They serve finely brewed beer and tasty food including big burgers, gourmet pizzas, salads, steaks, and seafood – the perfect spot to relax after surfing.

We offer surf courses for beginners and improvers in a safe, fun and relaxed atmosphere, with personalisation and small Instructor:Student ratios. We teach surfing only, so you get focused coaching from specialist Surf Coaches.
A one hour lesson is NZD$50.00 per person per day and includes board & wetsuit.
