Welcome to M Star Silambam, a premier martial arts school dedicated to the rich and ancient art of Silambam. Rooted in the traditions of South India and celebrated in Tamil Sangam literature, Silambam emphasizes grace, agility, and the formidable skill of wielding a bamboo staff. The club is affiliated with the World Silambam Association, ensuring the highest standards of training and authenticity.
M Star Silambam is proud to offer classes that cater to all ages and skill levels. The practice primarily involves the use of the bamboo staff, typically around 1.68 meters in length, but also includes other traditional weapons like the sedikuchi (a 3-foot stick), teak, or Indian rose chestnut staffs. Each staff is meticulously prepared by submerging it in water and striking it against surfaces to enhance its durability, with metal rings often added to protect the ends.
At M Star Silambam, the training environment is welcoming and supportive, fostering a sense of community among students. Whether mastering the intricate spins and strikes or learning the art's deeper philosophical elements, practitioners of all backgrounds find a place to grow and excel. The various techniques taught include routines with singular and double staffs, each requiring dedicated practice and precision.
