Welcome to Mura Budo Kan. Mura Martial Arts clubs have been training at the Jubilee Hall in Wistow, near Selby, since 1985. The main styles of the club are Wado-Ryu Karate, Atemi Ju-Jitsu, and more recently, Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei Iaido.
The club is proud to have highly experienced instructors. Our club instructors consist of sixth, fifth, fourth, third, second, and first Dan black belts in Karate, Atemi Ju-Jitsu, and Iaido. Collectively, they have accumulated over 150 years of martial arts experience, making Mura Martial Arts Clubs a unique and highly knowledgeable place to train.
The club operates with no joining fee, and Karate suits (Gi) are available for purchase from 10 to 14. Additionally, other clothing and equipment can be acquired through the club if required.
Training costs for Karate sessions are 6. 00 per session, and your first training session is free. Our instructors' qualifications are renewed every three years, with the majority being Karate England and British Kendo Association qualified instructors. We also have AMA and Karate England qualified referees and judges, ensuring a high level of expertise during training and competitions.
Moreover, all instructors are child welfare and protection certified as well as Sport UK coaches.
The club is a proud member of the Independent Martial Arts Sports Association (IMASA) and ensures it is fully insured. All training areas and equipment comply with health and safety regulations, and we uphold good practise and child welfare protection standards.
Mura Martial Arts Clubs prioritise the safety and well-being of its members. With 37 first aid trained athletes of all ages within the club, we believe in equipping our members with life-saving skills. To demonstrate this commitment, we offer a free eLearning course on how to respond to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). This course provides immersive and scenario-based learning, practical information, and tips to help you respond quickly and appropriately in an SCA situation.
Training sessions currently take place on Sundays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, with the club reopening again on Sunday, the 19th of November.
Club grading dates are scheduled at the end of June 2023 and the end of October 2023. These opportunities allow members to progress in their martial arts journey and achieve higher ranks within the various disciplines practised at Mura Martial Arts Clubs.
At Mura Budo Kan, the club is run by the club members, for the club members. We offer a full training and social programme, fostering a supportive and welcoming environment for all. Join our community and become a part of Mura Budo Kan, where we are committed to keeping you fighting fit for life.
