Welcome to Murugan Cricket Club, a cornerstone of community cricketing excellence since 1967. Nestled in the vibrant locale of South Street, the club was formed by a group of spirited youngsters keen on nurturing both their passion for cricket and lasting friendships. Initially inspired by the Lord Muruga temple, these early enthusiasts quickly expanded their ranks, bringing in friends and family to form what would soon become a beacon for budding cricketers in the area.

Murugan Cricket Club, named in honor of the deity whose land they initially played on, rapidly gained momentum. By 1977, just a decade after inception, the club was affiliated with the Thiruvananthapuram District Cricket Association and promptly made a mark by finishing as runners-up in the A Division league the following year. The contributions of pioneers like Mani, Moorthy, Venkitesh, Raja, Sarathi, Hariharan, and Sreenivasan were instrumental in establishing the club's early reputation for excellence and sportsmanship.

Transitioning from soft ball to leather ball cricket, the club moved its base to the nearby Sree Chithira Thirunal Park. This shift not only honed their competitive edge but also drew the club into the limelight of Southern Kerala’s cricketing circuits, participating in numerous prestigious tournaments. Our unwavering commitment to internal talent and the eschewing of guest players solidified a culture of integrity and camaraderie. From the outset, Murugan Cricket Club cultivated a fervent yet controlled approach to the game, earning vast respect and a loyal fan base.

Over the years, Murugan Cricket Club has continually adapted and grown. The 1980s and 1990s saw the club moving its activities to various grounds, with significant milestones such as establishing net practice sessions and organizing the esteemed Celestial Trophy Cricket Tournament. These ventures have turned our facilities into renowned coaching centers, particularly for budding talents in the region.
