Nakashi Parrswood Karate Academe offers a range of classes for all ages and abilities. The club was founded in 2004 by Paul Lomax, a 5th Dan-Renshi, with the goal of helping children develop confidence, coordination, fitness levels, and respect towards others. As the club grew, parents also expressed interest in joining, leading to the inclusion of mixed classes for all ages starting from 5 years old. The club teaches Shito-Ryu-Shukokai Karate and is affiliated with the SSKU association.
Both Paul Lomax and Helen Lomax, a 4th Dan, started their Karate training in 1993 and have been training under Denis Casey, an 8th Dan and the UK chief instructor. Denis Casey has provided his full support, commitment, and authorisation to Nakashi Parrswood and its instructors.
The club is well-established and structured, with enthusiastic students who are eager to learn the complexity and skill of Shito-Ryu-Shukokai karate. Paul and Helen are both first aid trained and have undergone enhanced DBS checks (previously CRB). All members are insured through the EKF (English Karate Federation).
Classes take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, as well as on Saturdays from 11:45am to 12:45pm for all grades and from 12:45pm to 1:45pm for advanced students. The classes are held at Parrswood High School in Didsbury, Manchester.
Nakashi Parrswood Karate Academe follows a comprehensive belt system, with different katas (forms) assigned to each belt level. Students progress through the various belts by demonstrating proficiency in the assigned katas. The club also adheres to strict dojo etiquette to promote respect, discipline, and a positive training environment.
Whether you're a beginner looking to start your martial arts journey or an experienced practitioner searching for an inclusive and dedicated Karate club, Nakashi Parrswood Karate Academe welcomes you to join their family and experience the benefits of Karate training.
